Never Underestimate the Power of F*ck It
It’s the motto I live by, and it’s what made me the Navy SEAL I am today. I’ve learned the less you care, the better. But when I wake up in a hospital in India with no memory of the last few months, I’m at a loss. Everything points to me being involved with some dangerous people.
People who kidnapped my little sister’s best friend Charlotte—who’s haunted my dreams, and now is making my reality a living hell.
I can’t remember what I’ve supposedly done, or who’s trying to kill us. All I know is that I have to find Charlotte and get us both out of this mess alive.
Only I hadn’t counted on Charlotte having her own agenda…
Review: This is the third book in the Phoenix rising series. I haven’t read the other books and I was able to follow the plot easily. It seems to me that each book in the series is a standalone and can be read without having to read the others.
I love a good contemporary romance with a hot, muscular and smart hero with a pretty, smart , and sassy mouth heroine. The reader will get all that and more with this book. I loved that this book was funny, fast paced, and the banter between Liam and Charlotte was off the charts hot.
The reader needs to be warned that there are some elements of BDSM, but nothing hard core. It’s important to mention this as some readers don’t like any aspect of BDSM and if it wasn’t mentioned in this review, it would be remiss of me. I loved the BDSM elements as I thought it brought the two characters closer together and made the time they had together in and out of the bedroom more meaningful.
Charlotte made Liam work for her submission, as well as her love, but she wasn’t a bitch about it and it was funny and entertaining to read the interaction between the two of them. That being said, Liam was no pushover and he made Charlotte work too. He was an alpha male and put up with no crap, but he was funny, gentle, and sensitive. How can any woman resist that combination?
Now I want to read the other books in the series to find out what happened before. The question needs to be asked: will there be another book in this series? Also, what new books will be written? This inquiring mind needs to know, you know?
Pick up this book to begin a Brynley Blake binge-a-thon. It was just so, so good.
