King of the cowboys, Ace gets whatever what he wants. Kitty is strong, independent, and madly in love, but will they go all the way?
Ace is a record-breaking all-around champion bull rider. He’s used to being the boss, and he knows what he wants. When he meets reporter Kitty at a black tie event, he knows he wants her, and he’s hoping she feels the same about him.
Kitty loves Ace’s strength, and his old-fashioned gentlemanly ways, which are rare in her world. She’s used to war zones and petty tyrants. Ace wants to protect her, and she’s willing to let him. To a point. She still has a job to do, though, and when danger strikes too close to home, Ace comes to the rescue. Will Ace be able to keep Kitty safe, and by his side?
Review: Ace the A typical male. Tall, dark and handsome and throw in a little bit of rodeo royalty for good measure. Ace is the male lead in this story about a connection between two people who on paper look like complete opposites. Ace has spent most of his life in and around the rodeo. It’s what he knows and what he loves.
Kitty is a female reporter who is always on the go and is always looking for the next big story. By coincidence they run into each other at a party they were attending and felt the instant attraction.
I found this story beautifully written. It started out like it was going to be just another erotica novel but there was so much more. The author covers everything from long distance romance, denial of feelings for the other person in the relationship, loss of family and what it feels like to have a loving family. Yes let’s not forget that there is plenty of sex but this book was such an amazing change from the normal erotica. Once I got 3/4 of the way through the book I thought I knew how things were going to turn out and then WHAM, out of nowhere the author throws you a right hook that you weren’t expecting. It kept me on my toes and pulled me right back into the story.
The scenes in the story are very detailed and I found myself being able to picture myself there with them. From something as simple as the doctor’s office at the rodeo to sinking my feet in the sand in Mexico. The picture was just beautiful and added so much to the story and to the characters.
One of the things that I enjoyed the most though was the supporting characters. Some authors just include them in passing, but not B.A. Tortuga. She makes them just as important as the main characters, and that to me is key in pulling me in to read the next book in a series. I love to be able to follow characters form one book to the next.
From page one I was pulled into Ace and Kitty’s story and it was an amazing one at that. I found myself up late the night that I got it because I couldn’t put it down. I find now that I can’t wait for the next book in the series. For keeping me intrigued and the pages flipping at rapid pace I give this book a 5 rose review.
Favorite Quote: “I want you to call them, Kitty. Please? Tell them to fuck off. You have a place here, until the day you die. You don’t have to go.”
